Vietnam Pair, 2 RAR. Victor Goncharow served as a Private with the Royal Australian Infantry Corp. He served in Vietnam with 2RAR from 16/5/70 to 1/6/71. EF WWI and WWII Group of 6 1914/15 Star Trio, WWII Defence, War, Aust. Service Medals. 1914/15 Star impressed '2088 PTE. L.M. JENNINGS 1 G/HOSP A.I.F.', 'A.M.C. A.I.F.' on B.W.M., '1 A.G.H. A.I.F.' on Victory. WWII medals impressed 'V16602 L.M. JENNINGS'.
Louis Michael Jennings enlisted for the First War on 22/1/15 and embarked from Australia on 10/4/15, serving with the 6th Field Amb. and the 1st Aust. General Hospital. He R.T.A. on 9/2/19 for discharge 2/6/19. On 24/6/41 Jennings again enlisted, this time for home service during the Second War, at almost 49 years of age. He served in Darwin from 20/9/41 to 20/6/42 and attained the rank of W.O.I. on 21/8/45. He discharged 12/11/45. WWI 14th Battalion Trio. 1914/15 Star impressed “3491 PTE M. SUTHERLAND 14 BN. A.I.F.”, Pair impressed “3491 A-BDR M. SUTHERLAND 12 F.A.B. A.I.F.” Michael Ernest Sutherland enlisted on the 16/7/15 and was W.I.A. in France on the 12/3/17 with a gun shot wound to the thigh, he returned on the 13/4/19 VF WWI British War Medal Impressed to "5686 Pte. W.F. Flannery 6BN. A.I.F." William Francis Flannery enl. 3/3/16 and served in France. On 4/1/17 He died on service from a Cronic Obstruction of the intestines. He is buried at Heilly Station Cemetery VF Albert Oliver Sherman (from Gatton, QLD.) enlisted 7/10/14, and embarked from Melbourne on 22/12/14. Joining the M.E.F. on the 30/4/15. He arrived at Gallipoli (on board ship) with Horses to deliver but these were not required and he returned to Alexandria with them. Joining the B.E.F. at Alexandria on 26/3/16 Sherman arrived at Marseilles on 2/4/16. He R.T.A. on 19/10/17, early, due to G.S.W. to his right eye, which he sustained on or about 22/6/17 in France. 2. Memorial Plaque Named to 'Percy Edward Sherman' in Card Case of issue. (Sgt. 3924, 15BN) Percy, the younger Brother of Albert, enlisted into the Engineers. He joined his unit in France on 6/3/16 was quickly promoted to Cpl. - 1/4/16, L-Sgt.-5/4/16, and Sgt. - 2/6/16. He was K.I.A. on 9/8/16 at "Moquet Farm" near Pozieres.
Thomas Gladman Baldwin enl. 16/2/17 and R.T.A. 3/7/19 VF
WWI Pair (broken Trio) 26 BN, Severely Wounded, Gallipoli. Both impressed '1662 PTE. V. CREEDY 26 BN A.I.F.'. As new condition in card boxes of issue. Vincent Creedy enlisted 18/5/15, from Toowoomba, Qld., was .O.S. on 12/10/15 at Gallipoli. One month later on 12/11/15 he was W.I.A. with a bullet wound to the skull. He R.T.A. via Malta and Heliopolis 4/12/15 for discharge on 14/6/16 in Brisbane. Missing 1914-15 Star. EF British War Medal and Victory Medal Both impressed "1149 L/Cpl W.B.GORDON 3PNR. BN. A.I.F." William Brooks Gordon enlisted at Perth, Western Australia, on 7/3/16 with prior service of 3 years with the West Australian Highlanders. He embarked for service 6/6/16 and proceeded to France from England on 24/11/16. He returned to Australia on 9/12/18. VF WWI Trio impressed to "1286 PTE. (then CPL.) R.L.THOMAS 30BN. A.I.F." Reginald LindsayThomas enl. 20/7/15 and emb.9/11/15 for service in the Middle East & France. He was taken on strength of the 5th Pioneer BN. and made Cpl. on 17/3/16 at TEL-EL-KEBIR. Embarking to join the B.E.F. at Marseilles on 19/6/16 He was taken on strength of the 15th Field Ambulance 6/10/16 and reverted back to Pte. at his own request on 17/2/17. Thomas R.T.A. 31/3/19 for disch. 19/7/19 VF WWI Trio to 1 F.A.B. All impressed "4336 Dvr. C.A. Baker 1 F.A.B. A.I.F." Curiously his B.W.M. is missing 'A.I.F.' but is correctly impressed! Charles Albert Baker enlisted 6/1/15 after 2 Years prior service with the 6th Light Horse, and Embarked on 26/6/15. He was transferred to the 4th Art. Div. at Tel-El-Kebir on 27/2/16 and was taken on strength 21st. Howitzer Brigade on 6/3/16. Proceeding to join the B.E.F. he disembarked at Marseilles on 1/4/16. In April 1916 he suffered an in jury to his right foot, fractured metatarsal. Baker R.T.A. on 2/1/19. Although Baker was married prior to enlistment it seems he contracted syphillus in Sydney prior to joining! Suffering with this throughout his time in service he died shortly after discharge on 16/4/20 "collapsing at a race meeting and dieing in hospital". His wife , who had been seeing another man, filed for divorce on his return and remarried shortly after his death. She put in a claim for his medals as did Baker's father. Although issued at different times someone did, luckily, keep them together as a trio. VF. WWI Trio impressed to "744 PTE. W.J.REDMOND 30BN. A.I.F." William John Redmond enlisted 13/7/15 at 33 years of age and disembarked at Suez for Middle East service on 11/12/15. In Feb. 1916 he was admitted to hospital at Ferry Post and Tel-El-Kebir with rheumatism, then to hospital in Ismailia and Abbassia with a "dilated heart". As a consequence of these conditions Redmond returned to Australia for discharge on 5/7/16. VF. WWI Trio to Aust. Div. H.Q.. 1914/15 Star impressed "65 Pte. R. J. Williams Aust : Div: H.Q." Pair impressed "65 S/Sgt. R.J. Williams 1/Div. H. QRS. A.I.F." Robert John Williams enlisted on the 17/8/14 with prior service with the 51st Inf. He embarked for Middle East service on 21/10/14, was appointed 'Batman' on 22/1/15, and promoted to staff Sgt. on the 8/3/16 in Egypt. Williams proceeded to France 25/11/16 with the Postal service and returned to Australia on 15/4/18 with a Hernia. VF
