WWI Trio. 1/A.N. & M.E.F.    All impressed "919 Pte (then Gnr.) C.F. Webb 1/A.N. & M.E.F.

Cecil Frank Webb first enlisted on 11/8/14 into the "Special Expeditionary Force" (1/A.N.&M.E.F.) at 28 years of age. He states prior service with "A" Battery R.A.A. for 5 years. Webb embarked from Sydney aboard H.M.A.T. Berrima on 19/8/14 for 6 months service with the A.N.&M.E.F. in Rabaul.

On his return he discharged from the A.N.&M.E.F. and enlisted into the A.I.F. as number 4408 Pte. with 1st. F.A.B. on 18/3/15. He embarked again from Sydney on 26/6/15 for service in the Middle East.

On 6/9/15 Webb was admitted to hospital in Heliopolis, Egypt, with appendicitis. He was then diagnosed with "aortitis", a heart disease, and embarked from Suez on 31/10/15 for an early return to Australia, and discharge on 10/2/16.

A.N.&M.E.F. trios scarce on the market. Swing mounted "long" as worn.

impressed 'R.J. DOUNNE M.N.'.

 

Medals come in boxes of issue with 'Authority to Wear' document (Com. of Australia), with no A.S.M. listed.  His number being 'B 554'. Comes with Veteran Affairs 60 Year Medal.

Captain Eric Lovell Hodges, 15 BN, enlisted 18/7/40 and was M.I.D. on one occasion (L.G. 19/7/45 Page 3717, C.A.G. 19/7/45 Page 1548) for the Pacific. No other details. Comes with letter confirming M.I.D. and medals. Group not mounted and in 'as new' condition.

George Charles Bentick enlisted at Caulfield, Victoria, on 29/7/40. He embarked 5/2/41 with 2nd. Aust. Art. Reg. for the Middle East, arriving 17/3/41. After service with his unit he embarked from Suez 17/2/42.

On 16/6/42 he was transferred to "A.A.Regt. New Guinea Force" and served with them in P.N.G. until 29/8/42. Returning to Australia due to illness he was discharged early on 5/3/43.

He did not qualify for the Africa star.
