Trio to Victor McIntosh, 10 BN, who died of illness in Egypt prior to the Gallipoli Campaign

WWI Trio impressed ’23 L/CPL  V.C. McINTOSH  10 BN A.I.F.’


Victor Charles McIntosh from Adelaide enlisted 19/8/14 as a ‘low number’ original into the Machine Gun section of 10 BN.   He was a Blacksmith by trade and had 2 years prior service with the 17th Light Horse and 1 year with the Machine Gun section of the 22nd Light Horse.   Due to this experience he was soon promoted to L/Cpl on 16/9/14.   He embarked from Adelaide on 20/10/14.


After arrival in the Middle East McIntosh became ill with meningitis and on 13/1/15 died at Mena, Egypt.   He is buried in the British Protestant Cemetery, Cairo.
